Have you ever had an unexpected opportunity interrupt you? How do you respond? Life is easy, and happy. You are content and feeling pretty good about things in general. Work is good. The commute is manageable. Weekly schedules are somewhat predictable. The lady at your usual Starbucks knows your order. Why screw this up? Suddenly you are presented with something new, exciting, challenging, and so right it’s scary… but it means turning the current normal upside down. Do you disrupt your happy, easy, normal, life and take the leap of faith? Or do you close your eyes to the possibilities and let contentment rule?
Call me crazy, but I’ve never really found contentment contenting.
I have a new job.
I know what your thinking and NO I wasn’t looking for something new. I am very happy with my current job. It’s good. I am learning a ton of new things. I work in the most diverse environment possible and I love it. I am passionate about the mission of my organization. I am really somewhat sad to part ways after such a short period of time.
However, opportunity knocked on my door three weeks ago and presented me with the challenge I’ve been waiting for and being prepared for, I believe, my entire professional career. After much prayer, discussion with Godly counsel (thanks girls), and with the support of my husband, I have accepted an offer of full time employment with my church.
Starting Wednesday January 2, 2008 I will be the new, full time, Director of Communications for McLean Bible Church.
To say I am excited is an understatement. I’ve been itching for an opportunity like this. This is the right challenge, at the right time, and I fully believe that this is the next “for such a time as this” season of life that God is leading me to pursue.
On the heels of this major news headline in my life, and while I have your attention, in typical web 2.0 campaign style, I wanted to make this announcement on my new BLOG in hopes that you will stick around a while, take a look at some of the previous posts, and click on the subscribe link under “Gimme More” in the upper right hand corner of the screen to receive updates in your email inbox.
I invite you to join me on this journey. I am taking advantage of this life change to begin a few other new initiatives I’ve been sitting on for way too long, and this blog is one of them. You will notice categories on the right side of the screen. My intent is to focus the subject matter of this blog around these specific categories. Click on the ALW link at the top of this page to read more about why I started this blog. I’ve wanted to do this for a long time, and for some reason, I finally have the guts to do it. So leave me a comment, and let me know what you think.
Challenge me on what I write. I want this to be a place where iron sharpens iron.
Thanks friends. None of this would be possible without your loving support in my life.
