I heard a preacher preach a sermon once that we should strive to emulate Jesus, not only in his 3 years of ministry, but also in the way he lived before his ministry began on earth.
40… And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
52… And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Preacher pointed out that Jesus did 4 things.
He grew and became strong
He grew in wisdom and stature
He grew in favor with God and men
AND the Grace of God was upon him.
If we are to take heart and wait on the Lord… what do we do while we are waiting? I love that, in God’s economy, waiting is proactive.
After hearing this sermon, I am bombarded with challenges…
What am I doning while I am waiting?
Am I growing in Wisdom? Stature? Am I becoming Strong? Am I praying for God’s Holy Spirit to fill me and be these things through me?
Tough questions. What do you think?

I think that you make me stop and think about my life and how I am living it. Thanks for encouraging me to strive to be like Jesus no matter what I am doing. Today it is feeding Carlee Hayse, changing Carlee Hayse’s diapers, and just entertaining her. I hope that she sees Jesus in me.
I am not so great at waiting. I woke up this morning and thought “I keep waiting for my life to begin” … but what if it already has? I don’t want to miss anything 🙂

“Waiting is proactive”
Sometimes I get caught up in the waiting part without being proactive for what I’ve asked of God. Often many of us have a goal in mind and bum around for what we think we’ve been promised without keeping in mind that God works THROUGH us most of the time (versus just making things happen). We have to continuously take leaps of faith (risks if you will) in order to obtain what God wants for us or what we’ve asked of Him. So yes, we must be proactive in “waiting” for what God will provide by actively taking direction towards what it is. Very thought provoking!
