YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME

CAPITOL HILL (AP) – A Democrat defending Barack Obama’s former work as a “community organizer” has compared his party’s presidential nominee to Jesus Christ.

A conservative activist says Congressman Steve Cohen (D-Tennessee) then went on to suggest that Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin was like the Roman governor who had Jesus crucified.

Democrats were stung by Palin’s convention speech in which she said that as a mayor before becoming Alaska’s governor she was like a “community organizer” — but with actual responsibilities.

On the House floor Wednesday, Cohen said, “Barack Obama was a ‘community organizer’ like Jesus.” The congressman then added, “Pontius Pilate was a governor.”

Andrea Lafferty of the Traditional Values Coalition calls that outrageous and is urging Cohen’s colleagues to denounce his speech.

Earlier this year Cohen received the Award of Excellence for Public Service from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

I heard about this and then I saw Susan Sarandon on TV interviewed about what she thought about Sarah Palin. Her response? “Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor. That’s all I have to say.” and she smiled so smugly as if that was the biggest put-down ever. I just couldn’t stop laughing at how ABSURD the statement is. Um….Jesus was a community organizer? No….I think people hated Him, if I remember right. He came with a sword to divide, not to organize. And comparing Sarah Palin to Pilate…I just DO not see the connection here, folks. It’s so ridiculous that it crosses over to funny.
These kinds of statements just show how people make ignorant, fluffy statements that I think show more about their silly reasoning than they think.

I saw Susan Sarandon say this too. Isn’t that CRAZY…and completely RIDICULOUS!?!?! Thanks for writing about it – I think they are trying to get conservative votes but they need to try a better tactic because this is ignorance.
