Well, if you have spent any time reading this blog, you know my answer to this question. However, I would like some feedback from all of you about what Oprah is supporting in this video clip:
Click this link to see a video clip of Oprah advocating on behalf of universalism.
What stands out to me most about this video clip is the woman in the crowd who bravely speaks up and defends the faith. Would you have the guts to go toe to toe with Oprah on national television? If I had been there, I would’ve said that, people can choose to live like all paths lead to God, but what matters is being on the path that ends in salvation.
As for me, I will be on the narrow road to glory.
What would you have said to Oprah if you were in that audience?
Wow!!! I love me some Oprah, but we all know that she doesn’t advocate Christ. It makes me so sad…what a voice she has to reach billions and she denies the Truth.
I found myself applauding at the end. I have to admit I was shocked that they knew the answer to her question about the ones who have never heard. As someone who spent 3 years mobilizing believers I was praying they had the answer up their sleeve and they did! Of course they were referencing Matt 24:14, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
It seemed to scare her enough to change the subject and simply to refer to it as religion. I applaud these women for standing up for the ONE AND ONLY WAY to God…His son Jesus Christ.
My prayer is that Oprah finds Jesus. What a testimony to the world if she does. What a testimony of how God can use a solitary voice in a crowd to echo His Truth to the masses!
Sweet! That is awesome that she stood up for her faith. I think I would have done the same. When I was 15, I was kicked out of a mormon service. Long story short, I was forced to go by my aunt who I was living with. I told her that she would regret it. Sure enough mid-service, I stood up and preached the Gospel, laid it out for them and was promptly escorted to the door.
Great thoughts. Its wild to me that that Lady was in the audience to respond. Talk about divine appointment!
Wow very cool that the woman stood up for her faith even against a woman who so many in America stand behind. Its so sad to hear Oprah being so lost, and actually advocating it. I was rather surprised to hear Oprah say I can’t get into a religious discussion right now, when isn’t that really what the guest was there to talk about? Oprah really only seemed to want to talk about the way that she believed was the way to God, that being many in her mind. She hadn’t even considered the fact that many in her audience and viewers might disagree.
I have to say, for years I have loved how she advocates for the children, but I never knew the full extent of her non-belief, or that she was an advocate against Christianity. Wow. Thanks for the blogs Annie Laurie! You’re opening my eyes to all sorts of fun stuff!
I am inspired by the woman in the crowd. She was prepared to teach and rebuke in the ultimate tough crowd. AL, you asked if we would be able to stand up and say those things. If I’m being really honest, I would have to say that I don’t think I would have stood up in the middle of the panel to offer my belief. That’s hard. Very hard.
This video makes my heart hurt. It makes me hurt for the people who it will influence and for the people who do not have the foundation or the courage to disagree with someone of such influence. It makes me hurt for people who are caught in a web and never experience total freedom.
There is a scripture in 1 Timothy that I’ve been meditating on for the past month and it is very appropriate. It should be our warning to be on our guard, stand firm in our faith and do everything in love (1 Cor 16:13, I think!). The scripture of study is this (emphasis added):
1 Tim 4:1-4
In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.
**For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.**
But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
Amen to that!
