This week in the “Women Living Well” marriage challenge, we are intentionally and more proactively praying for our husbands. Courtney (the blog’s author) is encouraging us to pray through the topics listed in the book “Power of a Praying Wife.” As I have mentioned previously on my blog, I have found that praying through that book made a tremendous impact on our first year of marriage. I am sad to say that I do not pray through it as much as I used to, but starting now I am picking it up again.
Here is a list of the topics covered in Power of a Praying Wife:
1. His Wife (I found this chapter to have the most impact on me, many times God changed my heart/mind/attitude toward situations rather than changing his.)
2. His Work
3. His Finances
4. His Sexuality
5. His Affections
6. His Temptations
7. His Mind
8. His Fears
9. His Purpose
10. His Choices
11. His Health
12. His Protection
13. His Trials
14. His Integrity
15. His Reputation
16. His Priorities
17. His Relationships
18. His Fatherhood
19. His Past
20. His Attitude
21. His Marriage
22. His Emotions
23. His Walk
24. His Talk
25. His Repentance
26. His Deliverance
27. His Obedience
28. His Self-Image
29. His Faith
30. His Future
If any of you married folks out there want to pray more for your spouse, pick up this book or just start praying for the topics listed above. And husbands, there is also a “Power of a Praying Husband” book too!
As a side note, when I was growing up in church, someone challenged me to pray for my future husband. I was around 12 years old at the time. I know that may sound kind of crazy but in any event, I started praying for my husband then and continued to, intermittently, throughout my single years. And I am sure glad I did! Brian is everything and more I prayed for in a husband, and, if you have ever heard his testimony, its encouraging to know that my prayers may have helped to keep him alive at one point in his life. Maybe I will get him to share his testimony on here sometime so you can see how God used my prayers for him before I even knew him!
🙂 I am working thru this book w/my mentor right now. We are on the section about headship. Sometimes I wonder how I can better pray for my husband – your list is a great reminder – thanks ALW!
I love your beautiful testimony of praying for your husband before you ever met him!!! What a joy it is to see a woman devoted to praying for her ma.! He is so blessed to have you. Keep it up!

I never did, but I love the concept of praying for your future spouse. I have three kids and will encourage them to pray for their future spouses! I love that you did that. 🙂
Thats great Maytina! I was glad someone suggested it to me, so I am always excited to pass the idea along! Blessings!
