My husband is my hero. Now before you turn to the side and gag, let me tell you why.
My husband loves God. He is fully devoted to knowing, loving and living out the ways of Jesus in his day to day life. This means that he strives to love me as much as he loves his own body (Ephesians 5:28). This also means that he strives to love me as Christ loves his church (Ephesians 5:25). Christ died for the church. Thats alotta love folks. I am not saying that my husband is perfect, but I know that these are his goals. And this makes me feel very loved, honored, respected, cherished and safe.
My husband loves to serve others. When we were in Israel, we had the chance to have Bible verses in Hebrew engraved into silver rings. I struggled to select just one verse for my ring, but Brian had no trouble identifying his live verse. Matthew 20:28, “The Son of Man came not be to served but to serve others and give his life as a ransom for many.” This is my husband’s life verse, to strive to serve others as Christ did. I have never known a man to pursue this call so selflessly as my husband does. He serves because he knows God love it when he serves. And I believe he feels God’s love more when he is serving others. Its an awesome example, one I cant wait to see him demonstrate for our future children.
My husband takes good care of me. I have been out of commission for the last week. I found out kind of last minute that I needed to have a lymph node removed from my neck. The procedure was more intense that we thought it would be and I have been pretty much out of it for the last 4 days. My husband has taken excellent care of me. He never complained, he happily did for me the things I told him I needed. He even took me to get Georgetown Cupcakes, which I am convinced have magic healing powers in the icing. He never sighed or rolled his eyes, he only smiled and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable while I recovered from the surgery.
My husband makes me laugh. The man can be just plain silly! He dances around and makes up songs and always has something to say to get me giggling. I love that about him. Even when things get a little tense, as things often do in marriage, he can usually dissolve the situation with some funny face or look or comment that puts everything into perspective and we are both laughing at each other.
My husband embraces discipline. I really struggle with discipline so this is probably the trait I admire most in my husband. He has 2 black belts, one in Kung Fu and one in Tae Kwon Do He tells me that alot of his commitment to discipline comes from his martial arts training. He keeps me motivated to go the gym and to stick with my running. He encourages me to keep up my personal times with God in prayer and Bible reading. But the biggest way I have seen his commitment to disciple shine the brightest is in his pursuit of his Masters. He worked full time and went to school part time until he completed his Master of Theology degree from Liberty University. He sacrificed so much to achieve this goal and he will graduate with honors. I am so extremely proud of him. His dedication to his studies and to me and our family life was incredible. He is somehow able to achieve balance in all of these areas and it inspires me to try to achieve the same kind of balance in my own life.
My husband believes in me. When I am on the verge of giving up, my husband steps in with a good word or motivation or vision of some kind that helps me to keep going. He sees the best in me when often I don’t or won’t. He praises my successes and cheers me on to reach above and beyond what I think I can do. He helps me to see that I have what it takes inside of me to overcome my fears. I know this comes from his prayer life, and that his encouragement to me comes from God at work in his own life. I am so much better with him than I am without him.
Praise God for seeing that it is not good for man to be alone. Praise God for weaving a beautiful life adventure that led me to my husband. Praise God for giving us hearts willing to love each other the way He intended man and woman to love and be loved. Praise God for his Spirit living in each of us, which is truly the glue that holds us together in Him. (Colossians 1:17)
I am so blessed that my hero is my husband.

Thanks P! I am getting back to myself today. We need to catch up soon!
I view my husband the same way. It makes me smile when other wives view their husband like this. Hope you are recovering swiftly and there are no residual effects.
